Automation Engineer - Contract to Perm - Top $$$

Reporting to the Automation Leader, you will be responsible for managing all automation and OT systems. Your role includes providing technical expertise to support manufacturing, quality, maintenance, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and validate software changes for PLC, SCADA, HMI, and MES systems essential for automated plant processes.
• Create high-quality technical documentation for system design, functional specifications, reports, change management, testing, and commissioning.
• Assist and mentor production team members to improve their understanding of automation controls and their impacts.
• Contribute to continuous improvement projects by using automation to enhance machine capability and reliability.
• Implement automation/SCADA/MES/HMI projects or define scopes of work for external contractors.
• Set, modify, maintain, and enhance site control systems.

Skills/Experience

• Previous production experience, preferably in the Dairy Industry or other Food Processing Industries, with at least 6 years in a similar role.
• Tertiary qualifications in Electrical/Automation/Mechatronics Engineering.
• Advanced PLC programming skills (ideally familiar with Omron and Allen Bradley).
• Understanding of S88 Batch principles (ideally familiar with Proficy Batch).
• Expertise in SCADA/HMI/MES development and configuration (Proficy iFIX, Omron, Rockwell, and Ignition).
