Seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the implementation and delivery of ISO45001 certification for a significant government agency in Darwin.

You will manage all aspects of the project, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and company requirements while fostering a strong safety culture.

This position is a DARWIN based contract role, required for a period of 12 months, with an asap start.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end project delivery of ISO45001 certification, from gap analysis to accreditation.
  • Develop and execute a project plan, timelines, and milestones, ensuring alignment with Power and Water’s Investment and Delivery Framework.
  • Engage with key stakeholders (senior management, HSE team, employees and auditors) to drive successful implementation.
  • Conduct a gap analysis against current health and safety management systems and develop an action plan to address deficiencies.
  • Work with Business Unit’s and internal HSE staff on developing business processes and other supporting documents to align with ISO45001 requirements.
  • Work with internal teams to embed a safety culture, ensuring that health and safety best practices are integrated into daily operations.
  • Arrange and manage internal audits, risk assessments, and training
  • Oversee third-party audits and certification assessments, liaising with external bodies and required.
  • Monitor compliance, progress, and reporting to senior leadership on project performance and risks.

Essential Things About You

  • Demonstrated capability as a Project Manager with over 10+ years of experience.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
  • Extensive experience in project implementation and management, including project planning, budget management, project schedules, risk management, risk management, resource management and quality assurance.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Familiarity with internal audit processes and external certification assessments.
  • Proficient in project management tools and methodologies (e.g. PRINCE2, Agile, or PMP certification preferred).

A Bit More About You

  • Strong knowledge of ISO45001 standards, health and safety legislation, and risk management principles.
  • Experience in the utilities, energy, construction, engineering sectors or regulated industry.
  • Experience in government/ government-owned organisations.
  • Chartered membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. AIPM)
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 (Quality Management) or ISO14001 (Environmental Management).
  • Previous experience delivering change management initiatives related to health and safety.
