An exciting opportunity exists for a Control System Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team working on innovative renewable energy projects across Australia. This role offers a dynamic mix of hands-on programming, system design, and commissioning, ideal for someone who thrives in technical environments.

You’ll be instrumental in designing, programming, commissioning, and enhancing control systems for alternative gas power generation facilities. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise and a collaborative mindset to contribute to the success of renewable energy initiatives.

This is an exciting medium term contracting opportunity, located in Adelaide.

About the Role

  • Design and develop SCADA control systems for renewable energy facilities.
  • Program PLCs using ladder logic and develop communication systems
  • Apply electrical engineering knowledge to control circuit schematics, protection systems, and VFD configuration.
  • Create detailed control system documentation: specifications, control philosophies, I/O lists, cause & effect matrices, and scopes of work.
  • Interpret and modify P&IDs to align with instrumentation and control strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards, codes, and safety guidelines.
  • Participate in risk assessments and HAZOPs to ensure safe and reliable system design.
  • Support on-site testing, commissioning, and provide technical support to operations and project teams.
  • Develop commissioning plans, checklists, and schedules, and conduct verification testing both on-site and at supplier premises.

About You

  • Experience with Rockwell PLCs (RSLogix 5000/500).
  • Proficiency in Citect SCADA.
  • Familiarity with Red Lion protocol converters.
  • Strong understanding of industrial automation and renewable energy systems.
  • Background in power generation is an asset.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites for commissioning and support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive, collaborative mindset.
