We are seeking an experienced Microgrid Commissioning Manager to lead the commissioning of a large-scale, multi-site microgrid project. This is a unique opportunity to work on a cutting-edge energy infrastructure initiative involving solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), diesel generation, and advanced SCADA/EMS integration.
This is a contract position for approximately 9–12 months, with an immediate start. Remote working will be expected from time to time.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate commissioning activities across solar, BESS, HV/LV systems, SCADA, and EMS.
- Manage vendor and contractor engagement, ensuring safe and compliant commissioning practices.
- Develop and implement commissioning documentation including:
- Commissioning Management Plans
- Energisation Staging Plans
- Performance Validation Plans
- Conduct site investigations and witness commissioning tests (cold and live).
- Validate system performance against design specifications, including:
- PV generation
- BESS charge/discharge cycles
- Load profiles and islanding scenarios
- Lead weekly commissioning meetings and issue detailed progress reports.
- Ensure all documentation, test results, and redline markups are properly stored and submitted.
- Support handover to asset management teams, including training and performance testing.
Required Experience
- Proven track record in commissioning management for complex energy systems.
- Strong understanding of HV/LV electrical systems, SCADA, and microgrid technologies.
- Experience with Australian standards (AS/NZS 3000, 3008, 2067, etc.).
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and coordinate across disciplines.
- Familiarity with safety protocols including HV permitting and lockout/tagout procedures.
Desirable Skills
- Background in engineering, project management, or electrical commissioning.
- Experience with solar farms, battery storage, and diesel generation systems.
- Proficiency in documentation platforms (e.g., Procore) and commissioning tools.
