An opportunity exists for an experienced Operations Manager to lead the safe, reliable and efficient operation of major power generation assets in the Southern Region of the Northern Territory. This is a senior leadership role overseeing 24/7 operations within an isolated power system environment.

The Role

Reporting to the Operations Group Manager, you will provide high-level strategic and operational leadership across multiple power stations, ensuring generation reliability, safety excellence and strong stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the safe and reliable operation of power generation assets within the Alice Springs power system
  • Championing a strong HSE culture, ensuring safety and environmental KPIs are consistently achieved
  • Providing strategic operational advice and decision-making in a high-risk, complex environment
  • Managing emergency response capability, including black start functionality and 24/7 readiness
  • Overseeing Permit to Work systems, incident investigations and plant failure analysis
  • Optimising outages, resourcing, fuel management and production costs
  • Leading and developing a large, shift-based operational workforce, including fatigue and roster management
  • Building effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external network and system operators

About You

You are a senior operational leader with deep technical expertise in power generation and a proven ability to lead teams in high-pressure, mission-critical environments.

You will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience managing power generation operations, ideally within isolated or remote grid networks
  • Strong leadership and people management capability across 24/7 operational teams
  • Extensive knowledge of gas turbines, reciprocating engines and heavy rotating equipment
  • Comprehensive understanding of HSE legislation, risk management and safety systems
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement and decision-making skills
  • Experience producing complex technical, safety and performance reports

Qualifications & Experience (desirable):

  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering qualifications
  • Experience with computerised maintenance or work scheduling systems
  • Background in remote or isolated power systems
