This role is responsible for the planning, coordination, and hands-on supervision of civil works, with a strong focus on formwork, reinforcement (reo), and concrete pours. The Civil Supervisor will work closely with site crews to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with design, quality, and program requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate day-to-day civil construction activities associated with concrete substation foundations
- Provide hands-on supervision and technical guidance to steel fixers, carpenters, and concreters
- Oversee installation of formwork, reinforcement placement, and concrete pours, ensuring compliance with drawings and specifications
- Read and interpret civil and structural drawings, specifications, and construction schedules
- Plan works, allocate labour and plant, and coordinate deliveries of materials
- Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with safety, environmental, and quality requirements
- Conduct pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, and daily site briefings
- Monitor workmanship and productivity, identifying and resolving site issues proactively
- Liaise with project management, engineers, and subcontractors to maintain progress and quality
- Maintain accurate site records, including daily reports and quality documentation
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience supervising civil works involving concrete foundations, ideally within electrical substations or similar infrastructure projects
- Strong practical knowledge of:
- Formwork systems
- Reinforcement (reo) detailing and installation
- Concrete placement, finishing, and curing
- Demonstrated experience supervising steel fixers, carpenters, and concreting crews
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and site coordination
- High level of safety awareness and commitment to best practice
