Senior Electrical Engineer – Brownfields Studies

We’re seeking to appoint a Senior Electrical Engineer with proven brownfields study experience to support ongoing WA iron ore programs. This Perth CBD based contract role (initial 6 months) suits a senior engineer who thrives in complex brownfields environments and understands the challenges of integrating new works into existing operating assets.

About the Role

As a senior member of the study team, you’ll lead and contribute to PFS, FS, concepts and options studies across multiple brownfields electrical projects. You’ll be responsible for developing and reviewing key technical deliverables while ensuring alignment with the client’s governance frameworks, engineering processes, and safety expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high quality brownfields mining studies including PFS, FS and concept/option assessments.
• Navigate brownfields constraints: tie-ins, shutdown planning, constructability and integration with operating assets.
• Lead development and review of SLDs, scopes of work, protection studies, load flow and fault studies, and electrical equipment specifications.
• Provide senior technical input across HV/LV power systems, earthing, substations, MCCs, fixed plant and processing electrical systems.
• Collaborate with mechanical, civil/structural, process and control systems engineers across study packages.
• Work closely with operations, projects and maintenance teams to align deliverables with internal standards and engineering systems.
• Engage vendors, review engineering packages and support safe integration of new electrical infrastructure.
• Contribute to cost estimates, technical assurance, risk assessments and engineering governance requirements.

About You

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (mandatory).
• 10 to 15+ years’ electrical engineering experience within mining or heavy industry.
• Strong track record delivering brownfields studies and fixed plant electrical design.
• Experience working with Tier 1 mining operators and familiarity with their governance and engineering processes.
• Advanced capability in HV/LV power systems, protection, hazardous areas and Australian Standards.
• Proficiency in tools such as PowerFactory, ETAP, SKM, with familiarity in SAP and engineering document systems.
• Chartered (CPEng) or working toward chartership (highly regarded).
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Perth based study teams and site stakeholders.
