Technical Advisor Water Infrastructure Operations

Contract: 6 months
Start: From 30 March 2026
Location: Bunbury

Our client is seeking a Technical Advisor to support the safe and reliable performance of key water infrastructure assets across the South West region. This position sits within the Operations Engineering team and provides hands?on technical support, asset insights and operational guidance for dams, drainage networks and associated civil structures.

This is an excellent opportunity for a civil or water?focused engineer, or a technically competent tradesperson, who is ready to take on a broader technical role within a major utility environment.

About the Role

In this position, you will be involved in a mix of field?based inspections, asset condition reviews and engineering support activities. You will contribute to maintenance planning, asset performance reporting and technical investigations that help improve reliability and ensure compliance with relevant standards.

Working closely with operators, planners and engineering specialists, you will help deliver consistent technical advice and strengthen operational decision?making across service delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out asset condition assessments and support routine field inspections
  • Provide advice on asset performance, operational issues and maintenance requirements
  • Contribute to maintenance strategy reviews and risk mitigation activities
  • Assist with technical reporting, documentation and compliance records
  • Support minor project activities including scope clarification and technical input
  • Promote technical best practice and effective communication between operational teams
  • Contribute to safety, environmental and quality compliance activities

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Qualification in civil engineering, water engineering, mechanical engineering or related trade
  • Experience providing technical or engineering support in utilities, infrastructure or consultancy
  • Foundational understanding of asset maintenance, reliability or operational engineering
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret technical information
  • Confident communicator who can collaborate effectively with operational teams
  • Willingness to undertake field?based work including site inspections
  • Current C class driver licence

Desirable

  • Experience with water infrastructure, dams, drainage or civil structures
  • Understanding of asset management principles
  • Experience preparing technical reports or supporting minor engineering projects
  • Familiarity with ANCOLD guidelines
