Senior Control Systems Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Control Systems Engineer to lead the delivery of automation and control systems across major capital projects. This role involves hands-on engineering across process line upgrades, integrating sophisticated PLC, SCADA and electrical control systems into complex industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, testing and commissioning of industrial automation and control systems
• Program and commission PLCs and Safety PLCs, including new systems and modifications to existing logic
• Develop HMI/SCADA solutions using platforms such as Citect, WinCC and PanelView
• Produce construction-ready documentation including:
• Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
• Motor control schematics and panel layouts
• I/O wiring, loop drawings and network architecture
• Specify and select automation technologies (PLCs, drives, MCCs, sensors, actuators and motors)
• Troubleshoot systems using P&IDs and electrical drawings
• Develop alarm philosophies, fault-finding guides and commissioning documentation
• Support and lead commissioning activities, including safety PLC validation
• Ensure compliance with relevant engineering, safety and industry standards

Skills & Experience

• Degree in Electrical, Automation, Instrumentation or related Engineering discipline
• Minimum 7 years’ industrial experience on multi-discipline engineering projects
• Strong PLC and SCADA capability, ideally including:
• Siemens S7-300 / S7-1500 PLCs
• Citect SCADA
• Experience with Profibus, Profinet and Ethernet-based I/O
• Strong ability to interpret and troubleshoot using P&IDs and electrical drawings
