Embedded Expertise is supporting the delivery of major Defence infrastructure programs in Western Australia and is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Engineer to join a high performing project controls environment.

This role sits within a multidisciplinary Planning and Delivery function providing Project Management and Contract Administration (PMCA) services across complex, secure Defence infrastructure projects.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Cost Engineer, you will be responsible for leading cost management activities across the full project lifecycle. You will play a key role in maintaining strong financial governance, providing accurate forecasting and delivering clear cost insights to support informed decision making on large scale Defence programs.

The role is based across Perth, Subiaco and Garden Island and offers exposure to long?term, high profile Defence infrastructure work within a collaborative and professional delivery environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, actual costs and commitments
  • Monitor financial performance and identify cost variances and potential impacts
  • Analyse cost data to identify trends, risks and opportunities
  • Collaborate closely with planning and scheduling teams to align time and cost forecasts
  • Prepare clear, detailed cost reports and dashboards for senior stakeholders
  • Support change control processes, including variations and scope changes
  • Contribute to risk identification and mitigation planning from a cost perspective

About You

  • Around10 years’ experience in cost control or project controls, including cost engineering, commercial or contract administration, quantity surveying or estimating
  • Experience within Defence, infrastructure or complex building projects is highly regarded
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel capability; experience with cost control systems such as PRISM is desirable
  • Strong commercial and contractual understanding
  • Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive, detail focused and able to work independently in a secure environment
  • Australian citizen with the ability to obtain Baseline or NV1 Defence security clearance
