We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to deliver a secure Defence infrastructure project within a highly regulated and access-restricted environment. The role is responsible for the end to end delivery of a key Defence facility, ensuring works are executed safely, compliantly, and in line with Defence and industry requirements.
This position suits a technically strong Project Manager with a background in oil and gas, fuel facilities, or industrial infrastructure, supported by formal qualifications in mechanical or instrumentation engineering. The role is facilities focused and involves managing safety critical systems, specialist contractors, and complex technical interfaces.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage delivery of a Defence facility project from planning through to handover
  • Coordinate mechanical, instrumentation, and associated services contractors
  • Oversee works related to fuel storage, transfer, and refueling infrastructure
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
  • Manage program, cost, quality, and project risk across all phases
  • Interface with client representatives, engineers, and specialist service providers
  • Maintain governance, reporting, and comprehensive project documentation
  • Support commissioning, testing, and handover of safety critical assets
  • Promote a strong safety culture and adherence to site controls

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Instrumentation Engineering
  • Formal Project Management qualification or equivalent industry recognised certification desirable
  • Proven Project Management experience within oil and gas, fuel facilities, Defence, utilities, or industrial environments
  • Demonstrated experience delivering capital works or infrastructure projects
  • Strong understanding of fuel systems, hazardous areas, and safety critical infrastructure
  • Experience managing technically complex scopes and multiple specialist contractors
  • Sound understanding of project controls including program management, cost control, risk, and reporting
  • Experience operating in highly regulated and security constrained environments
  • Strong commercial, stakeholder management, and communication skills

Eligibility & Security Requirements

  • MUST BE Australian citizen with sole citizenship
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a Defence security clearance
  • Ability to work within secure and access-controlled environments

Desirable Experience

  • Defence fuel farms or refuelling facilities
  • Bulk fuel storage or transfer infrastructure
  • Brownfield upgrades within live operational facilities
  • Commissioning and handover of safety critical assets
