We are seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to drive the design and delivery of complex data centre projects. This is a key leadership role where you will take ownership of mechanical design solutions across mission-critical environments, ensuring performance, efficiency, and reliability.
You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and contractors to deliver high-quality engineering outcomes across large-scale data centre developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design of data centre projects, including HVAC, cooling, and associated systems
- Take ownership of designs from concept development through to detailed design and delivery
- Review and approve detailed design documentation, calculations, and specifications
- Ensure designs meet industry standards, sustainability targets, and client requirements
Key Requirements
- Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering, desirable - Chartered Engineer (CPEng) or working towards
- Proficiency in BIM / Revit and design tools
- Experience delivering hyperscale data centre projects.
- Demonstrated experience in mechanical design within data centres or other mission-critical / building services environments
- Strong hands-on expertise in HVAC system design, including chilled water, CRAC/CRAH, and DX systems
- Proven experience leading engineering teams and managing project deliverables
- Strong understanding of redundancy design principles (N+1, 2N) and energy-efficient solutions
- Familiarity with relevant standards such as ASHRAE, NABERS, and Australian codes
- Ability to review, validate, and optimise engineering designs
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
