We are seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to drive the design and delivery of complex data centre projects. This is a key leadership role where you will take ownership of mechanical design solutions across mission-critical environments, ensuring performance, efficiency, and reliability.

You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and contractors to deliver high-quality engineering outcomes across large-scale data centre developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design of data centre projects, including HVAC, cooling, and associated systems
  • Take ownership of designs from concept development through to detailed design and delivery
  • Review and approve detailed design documentation, calculations, and specifications
  • Ensure designs meet industry standards, sustainability targets, and client requirements

Key Requirements

  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering, desirable - Chartered Engineer (CPEng) or working towards
  • Proficiency in BIM / Revit and design tools
  • Experience delivering hyperscale data centre projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical design within data centres or other mission-critical / building services environments
  • Strong hands-on expertise in HVAC system design, including chilled water, CRAC/CRAH, and DX systems
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams and managing project deliverables
  • Strong understanding of redundancy design principles (N+1, 2N) and energy-efficient solutions
  • Familiarity with relevant standards such as ASHRAE, NABERS, and Australian codes
  • Ability to review, validate, and optimise engineering designs
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
