Lead Electrical Engineer - Data Centres

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Electrical Engineer with a strong design background to drive the development of complex data centre projects. This role is centred on technical excellence and design leadership, where you will take full ownership of electrical design solutions across mission-critical environments.

You will play a key role in shaping robust, efficient, and resilient electrical systems, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver best-in-class engineering outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end electrical design of data centre projects (concept, detailed design, and delivery)
• Develop and optimise designs for power distribution, UPS systems, generators, and critical infrastructure
• Perform and review load calculations, fault analysis, and system modelling
• Own and approve technical documentation, schematics, and specifications
• Ensure designs align with reliability, redundancy (N+1, 2N), and energy efficiency objectives
• Collaborate with mechanical and other disciplines to deliver fully integrated design solutions
• Identify opportunities for design improvements, innovation, and value engineering

Key Requirements

• Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering. Desirable - Chartered Engineer (CPEng) or working towards
• Strong, proven experience in hands-on electrical design within data centres or mission-critical environments
• Deep expertise in LV/MV system design, UPS, backup generation, and electrical distribution
• Demonstrated ability to produce, review, and validate complex engineering designs
• Strong understanding of redundancy and resilience design principles (N+1, 2N)
• Experience using design tools and software (e.g. ETAP, PowerCAD, Revit/BIM)
• Familiarity with AS/NZS standards, IEC standards, and Australian codes
• Excellent attention to detail with a focus on design accuracy and performance
