Senior Control System Engineer

We’re looking for a Senior Control Systems Engineer to step into a technical leadership role within a complex mining operation. This position suits an experienced engineer with broad exposure across industrial control systems, who enjoys solving plant-wide challenges and working across a diverse technical environment.

You’ll act as the site Subject Matter Expert, supporting engineering teams and technicians across multiple disciplines while driving the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of control and automation systems.

This is a long-term contracting opportunity based in Adelaide.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide SME-level technical leadership across control systems, automation, and instrumentation
• Support maintenance, upgrades, and optimisation of site-wide control systems
• Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of complex control system issues
• Drive improvements in alarm management systems and ensure compliance with relevant standards
• Support integration of fire and safety systems within broader control architectures
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams across electrical, mechanical, and operations
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance
• Contribute to design, commissioning, and upgrade projects across plant and infrastructure
• Mentor and support the development of junior engineers and site technicians

Skills and Experience

• 10+ years’ experience in control systems engineering within heavy industrial environments
• Strong background in mining, minerals processing, or similar sectors
• Proven experience across:
  • DCS and/or PLC/SCADA platforms
  • Alarm management systems
  • Fire detection and protection systems integration
  • Industrial communications and networking
• Exposure to advanced automation technologies
• Broad, hands-on experience across control system design, maintenance, and optimisation
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capability in live operational environments
