We are seeking an experienced Senior SCADA Engineer to lead the design and delivery of SCADA and control systems from the ground up. This role will play a critical part in defining system architecture, recommending technology solutions, and ensuring compliance with AEMO and NSP requirements across renewable energy and power system projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end design of SCADA systems, including defining architecture, selecting platforms, and setting technical standards.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and justify SCADA platforms and vendors, including commercial and technical assessments.
  • Develop cost estimates and pricing inputs for SCADA and control system implementation.
  • Lead grid connection activities, including registration, commissioning, and compliance with AEMO and NSP requirements.
  • Act as the key interface for technical and regulatory coordination with AEMO, NSPs, OEMs, and internal stakeholders.
  • Oversee procurement and delivery of power system and SCADA packages.
  • Specify and select automation, communication, and electrical equipment for control systems.
  • Develop and review technical documentation, including system architectures, functional descriptions, schematics, and network designs.
  • Plan and coordinate FAT & SAT testing, ensuring performance, integration, and compliance requirements are met.
  • Ensure compliance with National Electricity Rules (NER) and relevant industry standards.


About You

  • Degree-qualified in Electrical / Power Systems Engineering (or related discipline).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience within energy, utilities, or renewable sectors.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing SCADA systems, ideally from concept through to commissioning.
  • Strong capability in SCADA platform selection, system architecture, and integration.
  • Experience preparing technical proposals, vendor evaluations, and cost estimates.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills across AEMO, NSPs, OEMs, and project delivery teams.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.


Highly Regarded

  • Experience coordinating grid connection applications with AEMO and NSPs.
  • Strong understanding of the National Electricity Market (NEM) and regulatory environment.
  • Exposure to renewable energy projects, particularly BESS and solar.
